Nothing yourself. A suspended pine top is heavy, held by very little, and directly above anyone trying to deal with it — and pine breaks tend to leave long spikes that behave unpredictably. Rope off the whole area of possible fall, keep vehicles out, and have it taken down properly.
How often should pines near a house be looked at?+
Every one to three years, plus after any locally severe storm — the same interval as any high-consequence tree. What makes pines particular is that the changes worth finding are at the top of a very tall tree, which is exactly where a ground-level glance from directly underneath sees nothing at all.
